CREATING A PAYPAL ACCOUNT CREATING A PAYPAL LOGIN AND VERIFYING YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT

Creating a Paypal Login and Verifying Your Paypal Account

Friends have been asking me a lot on how to get a Paypal account.  This is probably due to the continued growth in popularity of online jobs in the Philippines.  I constantly receive messages about how to get an account with Paypal.  I get these messages on Facebook, Gmail, Yahoomail, work email and sometimes even via SMS/text.  At first it didn’t really bother me. I mean, I’m just sharing the process I went through when I got my Paypal login.  But then, I found myself repeating the same instructions over and over again.  So, I decided to post the steps on getting an account with Paypal instead so I can just send the link to anyone who asks about it.  Hopefully, this would also benefit other people looking for information how to get a paypal login.
The process is divided into two major steps: How to Get a Paypal Login and How to Verify Your Paypal Account.

How to Get a Paypal Login
1. First, visit the Paypal website and click on the “Sign Up” link in the Account Login area found on the left-hand side of the page.
2. Select the country or region where you currently are and choose the type of Paypal account you would like to open by clicking on the “Get Started” button.

Choose among the three types of account with Paypal: Personal, Premiere and Business.  Choose Personal if you only intend to pay with Paypal when you shop online.  Select Premiere if you plan on using your account with Paypal to buy and sell.  Choose Business if you are creating a Paypal login for your company or group under a business name.
3. On the next page, fill out the form with your personal information like name and address. You can also link your credit card to your account with Paypal on this page.  If you opt to skip that process, when you click on the “Agree and Create Account” button at the bottom of the page, it will still create your Paypal login.  Then, on the next page it will give you another chance to input your credit card information. You can skip this by clicking on “Go to Myaccount” on the bottom left of that box on the page.

Note that Paypal asks for the credit card information to verify your account with Paypal.  As explained, this can be done during account signup or later on after you’ve explored your Paypal account page.  Read on to know more about Paypal account verification.
4. Check the email you used in signing up for the confirmation email. Follow the instructions to confirm your Paypal login.  Once done, you are now officially a Paypal account holder!

How to Verify Your Paypal Account
Verifying your account with Paypal is important in lifting withdrawal limits on your account.  You can receive funds to your Paypal account even when it’s not verified, but you would not be able to withdraw them.  There are two ways to get the account verification process started. The first one is by entering your credit card information at the signup page.  The second one is by logging in to your Paypal account and clicking on “Unverified.”
In the second process, you will be asked to enter your credit card information: Name on the card, address and card verification number.
Make sure that the name and address you registered with your Paypal account login matches the name on the card and the billing address for your card.  The card verification number is usually a 3-digit code on the card itself.  The location of this number can vary from one card company to another.
After entering your card information, Paypal will make a verification charge on your credit card account of about P 150.00.  Make sure you have at least P 200.00 if you’re using a debit card. Paypal returns the amount after the account verification is successful.  (This amount is for people creating the Paypal account in the Philippines. If you're not from the Philippines, check on Paypal's website for the amount in your currency.)
The next step would involve getting a code that was generated from that transaction.  The code is called the Expanded Use number (EXPUSE).  You can check it on the online transaction log of your credit card to get this.  It will be a 4-digit code in the Paypal account transaction description and it will look appear like this: VISA-PP*XXXXCODE SG(608), where XXXX is the 4-digit EXPUSE code.  If your credit card does not allow you to view transactions online, you have to call the customer service department of you credit card provider and ask them for the code from the Paypal account transaction.  You may also just wait for the monthly statement of account you get for your credit card transactions to acquire this information.
Once you have the EXPUSE code, you can enter it into the designated field on your Paypal account verification page, and voila! You have now verified your Paypal account!

Verification and Your PayPal Account

To lift your sending and withdrawal limits and get the most of your PayPal account, you need to complete a few more steps to get Verified.
When you sign up for a PayPal account, we only ask for the essential information so that you can get started as quickly as possible. To allow us to do this, all PayPal accounts are initially Unverified and have limits. We do this because PayPal is legally required to verify more information about our customers to lift these limits.

What is Verification?

For Sending Payments. If you are an online buyer, you'll need a way to put money into your PayPal account.
To do this, you can either link your bank account, debit card or credit card to your PayPal account. When you provide PayPal with your card or funding details, we require that you prove you are the owner of that account or card. We call this getting Verified. It's our way of preventing fraud such as identity theft.
Getting Verified protects you and everyone that uses the PayPal network. Once you're Verified, your account no longer has sending limits.
For Receiving Payments. Whether you sell occasionally, or sell a lot with your online business, you'll need a way to withdraw money from your PayPal account. You can enable withdrawals by linking either your bank account or debit card to your PayPal account.
For security reasons, PayPal has set initial limits on the amount of money you can withdraw. To lift these limits, we require that you get Verified. In some countries there are additional steps to confirm your identity and lift withdrawal limits.

Why Get Verified?

·         Send as many PayPal payments as your like. Your sending limits are lifted
·         Easily withdraw money from your PayPal account to your bank account
·         Fund your PayPal payments directly with your bank account or debit card
·         Qualify for Buyer and Seller Protection at no additional cost.

How do I Get Verified?

Set Up Bank Funding: add and confirm a bank account
·         Click Add Bank Account on the left side of your Account Overview page
·         Confirm your bank account by entering the two deposit amounts that PayPal sent you when you added a bank account
What Does Status Mean?

·         Your bank account can be either confirmed or unconfirmed.
·         After you set up a direct debit, your sending and withdrawal limits are lifted.
·         You also become a verified PayPal member because you have proved that you own your bank account. This helps protect your bank account and PayPal account from unauthorised use.

·         Unconfirmed: Deposits pending
